Assistant Retirement Plan Administrator

We are a boutique firm specializing in 401k and Defined Benefit Plan design and administration for small businesses. We are looking to add to our twelve person team. The ideal candidate will be a detailed, analytical, self-motivated and client-oriented person that is ready to start a career or expand their current skills and knowledge. Someone who has a sense of humor, takes pride in their work, and has the willingness/ability to learn is the person we’re looking for.

  • Scan/Archive files
  • Answering phones
  • Tracking status of materials sent to and returned from clients
  • Preparing loan and distribution paperwork
  • Asset Reconciliation / Trust Accounting
  • Take provided self-study training courses/exams to learn the IRS rules relating to 401k plans. Raises provided as exams are passed.

You will be given the ability to develop your skills to be able to eventually take on a full time role as a Retirement Plan Administrator and further assist other staff or have your own assigned clients, in order to complete some of the following tasks:

  • Replying professionally via phone and email to questions from assigned clients
  • Performing IRS compliance testing relating 401k and Defined Benefit Plans
  • Calculation of contributions for employees
  • Preparation of IRS forms to include 5500 series
  • Interpreting Plan documents and provisions


  • Team player that is willing to help where needed and wanting to expand their knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, with great attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently while being innovative and creative alone or in a team
  • Strong organizational skills: track tasks, set goals, and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • 1-2 years of work experience preferred
  • Prefer Accounting and Math Majors (or anyone who has good analytical skills)
